Thai Massage is a relatively new addition to modern spas, yet it is an old style of massage claimed to have been invented 2,500 years ago by Buddhist monks in Thailand. It increases flexibility, relieves muscle and joint stress, and balances the body's energy systems by using passive stretching and moderate pressure along the body's energy lines.
A Thai massage differs significantly from other types of massages. Thai massage techniques, unlike many other massage techniques, are designed to stimulate the body rather than calm it.
Because the therapists use their bodies to move you into a sequence of yoga-like poses that stretch the body and loosen joints, Thai massage is often referred to as Thai yoga massage.
